General Rules

Lipid biochemistry related to the sample material should be considered i.e. building blocks (e.g. fatty acids, sphingoid bases) and their quantities (generation of electronic repositories of such data is of major importance)
Presences of isomeric lipid species should be considered
Presence of isobaric overlap should be considered; this includes isotopic overlap mainly of ¹³C-isotopes within a lipid class as well as isobars resulting from various adduct ions within and between lipid classes
